WN (Gambia) is the case which was heard at the Court of Appeal. This was also heard as a test case to give guidelines regarding the "second appeals test". Second appeals should be considered favourably by the higher Court whenever there are "compelling reasons" in individual cases, not to be refused as a blanket policy. The compelling reasons and the threshold guidelines were clearly explained in this Court of Appeal judgment. Sriharan's client from Gambia was successful in the First Tier Tribunal. UKBA appealed against that decision successfully. When Sriharans Solicitors appealed to a further Upper Tribunal, permission was refused. Therefore it became a tested and guideline case. UKBA represented by Treasury Solicitors were ordered to pay the legal costs in favour of this Appellant.

WE SRIHARANS SOLICITORS are very proud to be amongst the first law firms in the country to secure membership to the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) - the mark of excellence for the home buying process on 13th July 2011.
This will not only improve on our already high standards, but also ensure that our clients receive an outstanding level of quality conveyancing.
The Law Society recently introduced a new Conveyancing Quality Scheme to assist members of the public in choosing a Quality Conveyancing Solicitor. It is intended to create a trusted conveyancing community that will deter fraud, recognise high-quality services for home-buyers and lenders, and deliver a robust assessment and monitoring procedure.
When applying for membership of the CQS we had to satisfy the Law Society on a wide range of issues, which help ensure a high quality service, including:
Buying and selling a home is one of the biggest deals most of us ever make. We want to make it easy for you as we can and we will do all we can to make sure that everything goes smoothly. As a member of the CQS, our Firm has entered into the CQS Client Charter. The Charter tells you what you can expect from us.
What you can expect from us?
If you have already been our client, be proud of us. If you have not used our services, you will be making the correct choice by instructing us as your Solicitors. If you are hoping to obtain a mortgage, the Lenders will prefer Firms who hold CQS membership.
